What is baptism?
Baptism is the public declaration of a person’s commitment to Jesus Christ. It is an outward symbol of an inward commitment. The Bible clearly teaches that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment.
Why should I be baptized?
1. To follow the example set by Christ. Mark 1:9
2. Because Christ commands it. “Jesus said, `Therefore go and (1) make disciples of all nations, (2) baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and (3) teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28: 19
3. It demonstrates that I’m really a believer. The Bible says, “Many of the people who heard Him believed and were baptized.”
